Burt Smith

I have been an attorney for 38 years – 35 years in private practice and 3 years (from 1990 to 1993) as the Chief Felony Prosecutor for the 30th Prosecutorial District. I take pride in referring to myself as a “small-town, blue-collar” lawyer. I strive to provide prompt and cordial service to my clients based on a friendly, personal relationship.
I am married to Carol Smith (who also works with me in the law firm) and am the father of Paul and Maggie, who were born and reared in Haywood County.
I am a member of Waynesville First United Methodist Church and Waynesville Rotary Club and serve on the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Haywood County.
When not working, I am a home improvement buff, cook and avid snow skier.
